Choose whether converted amounts in limit messages are rounded up, for multi-currency stores using Shopify Markets.

**Short answer.** Settings > Currency chooses how a converted amount is written in a limit message, either Do not round or Round up when converting. It is a display setting. The threshold a Value rule actually enforces is the number you typed into the rule, in your store's base currency, and no rounding option changes it.

## Key takeaways

- It changes the number written in a message, never the number enforced at checkout.
- Rounding up avoids amounts like 431.87 in a warning a shopper has to act on.
- It only has a visible effect on stores selling in more than one currency.
- Value rules are always stored and enforced in your store's base currency.

## What it does

A [minimum order value rule](https://primemoq.app/help/rule-types/minimum-order-value) is written in
your store's base currency. When a shopper browsing in another currency is
blocked, the message has to state the threshold in the currency they are looking
at, which means converting it.

Conversion rarely lands on a round number. **Currency** decides how the result is
written:

| Option | A 500 threshold might read as |
| --- | --- |
| Do not round | 431.87 |
| Round up when converting | 432 |

## What it does not do

It does not move the threshold. Whatever a shopper's currency is, the rule is
evaluated against the same base-currency amount you typed into the rule's
Conditions. Rounding up the displayed number does not raise the bar, and it does
not create a gap where a cart passes the message but fails at checkout.

That is also why the setting is shop-wide rather than per rule. There is only one
question being answered here, and it is about wording.

## Change it

**Open Settings > Currency.**

**Choose Do not round or Round up when converting.**

**Save.** Settings shares one save bar across the page.

## Common mistakes

- Expecting it to change the enforced minimum. It changes text. The enforced
number lives in each rule's Conditions card.

- Looking for it on a single-currency store. With one currency there is
nothing to convert, so the setting has no visible effect at all.

- Confusing it with the store currency row. That row is in
Display and locale, is read only, and comes
from Shopify.

## FAQ

### Does this apply to every rule or only ones I choose?

It is a single shop-wide display setting. It applies anywhere an amount is shown converted into a shopper's currency, so there is no per-rule version of it.

### Does it matter if my store only sells in one currency?

Not in practice. With a single currency nothing is ever converted, so both options produce identical text. It becomes relevant the moment you add a second currency through Shopify Markets.

### Could rounding up make a cart fail that the message said would pass?

No. The message is generated from the same rule the checkout Function evaluates, and the Function reads the base-currency amount. Rounding only changes how that amount is written out.

### Where does the exchange rate come from?

From Shopify, the same rate your storefront is already using to price the product the shopper is looking at. Prime MOQ does not maintain a separate rate.

**Best for:** Multi-currency stores that want converted amounts in limit messages to read as round numbers.
