What it does
A minimum order value rule is written in your store's base currency. When a shopper browsing in another currency is blocked, the message has to state the threshold in the currency they are looking at, which means converting it.
Conversion rarely lands on a round number. Currency decides how the result is written:
| Option | A 500 threshold might read as |
|---|---|
| Do not round | 431.87 |
| Round up when converting | 432 |
What it does not do
It does not move the threshold. Whatever a shopper's currency is, the rule is evaluated against the same base-currency amount you typed into the rule's Conditions. Rounding up the displayed number does not raise the bar, and it does not create a gap where a cart passes the message but fails at checkout.
That is also why the setting is shop-wide rather than per rule. There is only one question being answered here, and it is about wording.
Change it
Open Settings > Currency.
Choose Do not round or Round up when converting.
Save. Settings shares one save bar across the page.
Common mistakes
- Expecting it to change the enforced minimum. It changes text. The enforced number lives in each rule's Conditions card.
- Looking for it on a single-currency store. With one currency there is nothing to convert, so the setting has no visible effect at all.
- Confusing it with the store currency row. That row is in Display and locale, is read only, and comes from Shopify.
