Short answer

The Design page controls how the limit message looks on your storefront: background colour, text colour, font size from 10 to 24 pixels, alignment, font family and whether a warning icon shows. It is one global style shared by every rule. Design controls the look, while a rule's Messages card controls the wording.

  • Styling is global by design, so every limit message on the store looks consistent.
  • Presets give a checked colour pairing. Picking a custom colour clears the active preset.
  • The right-hand preview updates instantly, so check contrast before saving.
  • Styling only shows up once the app embed is active in your theme.

Before you start

  • The app embed enabled in your theme

What you can style

The Design page controls the visual appearance of the limit message on your storefront: one global style, shared by the product page and the cart. Unlike a rule's Messages card, which controls the text per rule and language, Design controls the look for every rule across your whole store.

Style the message

Open the Design page from the Prime MOQ sidebar.

Start from a preset, optionally. Click a preset in the Presets grid for a ready-made background and text colour combination, or skip to manual styling.

Fine-tune colours, font and icon. In the Styling card, adjust background colour, text colour, font size, alignment, font family, and whether to show the warning icon. Picking a custom colour automatically clears the active preset, since you are no longer using it as-is.

Check the live preview. The right-hand preview card updates instantly as you change settings, showing exactly how the message will render.

Save. The new styling applies to every rule's message across your store immediately. You do not style rules individually.

Common mistakes

  • Styling does not seem to apply. Design only affects appearance, and only shows up once the app embed is active in your theme.
  • The message is hard to read. Presets are pre-checked for contrast, manual colour combinations are not. Check the live preview before saving a light background with light text.
  • Wanting different styling per rule. Not supported. Styling is global by design so every limit message looks consistent. Use rule-level Messages if you need different wording.

Frequently asked questions

Can I style each rule's message differently?

No. Styling is deliberately global, so every limit message on the store looks the same. Use a rule's Messages card when you need different wording for a specific rule.

I changed the Design settings but nothing changed on my storefront. Why?

Styling only renders once the app embed is enabled in your theme. If the message itself is not appearing at all, that is the app embed rather than the styling.

What happens to a preset if I pick a custom colour?

The preset is cleared, because you are no longer using it as it was defined. Your custom colours are kept, and you can click a preset again to go back.

Will the message inherit my theme's font?

If you set Font family to Inherit theme font, yes. Helvetica and Georgia are also available if you want the message to sit apart from your theme's type.

Is the warning icon required?

No. Show warning icon is a toggle. Turning it off suits brands where an alert icon would read as an error rather than a policy note.

Does Design styling affect the rule editor's Preview card?

No. The rule Preview reflects your rule's text and logic. Use the Design page's own preview to check the visual styling.

Best for: Making a blocked cart read as intentional policy rather than a broken page.

Applies to: All rules on the store
